How to use Birch Smoked Salt: smoke without the grill
Birch Smoked Salt is our flaky sea salt smoked over Icelandic birch wood for more than 48 hours, in the spirit of old Icelandic tradition. It brings the taste of a fire to food that never went near one.
What it tastes like
Woodsy and rounded with a hint of sweetness. The smoke goes deep rather than loud, so it adds depth without taking over.
How to use it
- Eggs, scrambled, fried or deviled
- Potatoes and roast vegetables
- Burgers, steak, ribs and anything from the barbecue
- Guacamole, hummus and dips
- Salt-baked beets and roasted roots
- Caramel, and the rim of a smoky margarita

How it is made
Every Saltverk salt starts with Arctic seawater from the Westfjords of Iceland, evaporated with 100% geothermal energy and lifted out by hand. Flavored salts hold their best flavor for about five years. No anti-caking agents, no additives, and every batch is third-party tested for heavy metals.
