Flake salt with two kinds of Icelandic seaweed. It tastes the way the shore smells.

Tasting notes & pairings

The seaweed brings umami and a saline, earthy depth that makes fish taste more like fish and broth taste more like broth.

Profile: Saline • Earthy • Umami

Best with: Cod and other white fish, chicken, soups and broths, ramen, roast vegetables, brines and ferments.

How it is made

Arctic seawater from the Westfjords of Iceland, evaporated with 100% geothermal energy. Hot water from the ground at Reykjanes runs under our pans until the flakes form, and we lift them out by hand. Nothing is burned, so the carbon footprint in making the salt is zero, and the whole business is Climate Neutral Certified. Read why we make salt this way.

Ingredients & testing

Hand-harvested Icelandic sea salt with Icelandic seaweed, 90 g / 3.17 oz glass jar. No anti-caking agents, no additives, no iodine. Every batch is third-party tested for heavy metals. Pure flake salt keeps indefinitely; flavored salts hold their quality for five years.

Shipping & our promise

Free US shipping on orders over $50. Subscribe and it arrives every one to four months at 10% off; skip or cancel any time. If a jar arrives damaged or the salt is not what you hoped for, write to saltverk@saltverk.is and we will make it right.

Two ingredients. Arctic seawater and geothermal heat. That is the whole recipe, and it is why a jar of Saltverk costs more than the salt next to it. Why it costs more →

Keep the jar. When it runs low, refill it from the 6 oz pouch and save the glass.

Pairs well with Flaky Sea Salt, or try all six.
